A Bump in the Road
"Cancer is only going to be a chapter in your life, not the whole story," Joe Wasser
This is a difficult blog post to write. No easy way to say. Cancer has made its way into our lives. It bolted right in, without an invite, and just like it meant business.
The last few weeks have been pretty rough and full of “Deep Emotions,” “What If’s,” and have left us with more questions than answers.
When I heard the words from my Oncologist Surgeon, the PET scan was not favorable, and it’s time to do a biopsy of lymph nodes, I knew the answer already. Surgery day came and went… and the real waiting began.
3 days ago, I had my chemo port placed in my chest, a boatload of Dartmouth appointments, and here we go.
We are sad — devestated as anyone who gets told it’s cancer… yet we are not quitters —and with Brian’s help and the help of my family, and more importantly our good and loving God, we are going to give it all we have and because our strenth is not going to cut it, we will be placing our deep trust in God for all the extra needed strength, stamina, and healing to get through this brutal season of our lives the best we can. We are confident God has a plan and a purpose, far deeper than we will ever see in all of this.
The Farm Stand is going to look different this next summer season. More to come on all that. Health has to come first always.
My heart and soul, and my love for gardening, growing flowers, and bringing such happiness and satisfaction to so many who eat our food and enjoy our flower beauty, is still there. Change is so hard, isn’t it? THIS change is the hardest of all.
We would appreciate your prayers. There have been so many answers to prayer already. We are so thankful our faith in God is strong and that He never calls us into a life He will not provide for. His provision doesn’t always look like what we would maybe choose for ourselves, but we know it is all for our good. That’s what we are holding onto.
Very dear grower friends of ours have been walking alongside of us and will be helping us grow a nice selection of plants for the Spring. They are making a sacrifice for us, which just seems so overwhelming. It may not look like it always does, but It will be great and will be a CELEBRATION like none other for me to be there to see it all come together. THIS is a gift like none other as it will help to supply very much needed and depended upon income that we would not otherwise have.
Thank you all for your support for these many years and for your continued support as we adjust for a season to some difficult circumstances beyond our control.
THIS is part of our story — A SEASON of our lives — And… like so many of the twists and turns in our story, this is just another one… being woven into the bigger tapestry of our lives… Adversity makes us stronger… This will make us stronger and grow us.
Love to you all!
Kathy and Brian
